Agroversitat

2022-23

Agroversitat es un laboratorio de arte, agroecología y pedagogías críticas. El proyecto busca activar procesos de aprendizaje colectivos e intergeneracionales relacionados con temáticas como los usos de la tierra, la defensa del territorio y la crisis ecosocial. Surge en el ecosistema de la huerta valenciana, con la intención de visibilizar y valorizar sus saberes situados, históricamente marginados frente a la cultura urbana y desarrollista.  Dichos saberes han sido recientemente integrados en los Sistemas Importantes de  (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations 2019). Sin embargo, sobre todo a partir de la segunda mitad del siglo XX, estas prácticas y conocimientos han sido relegados a un papel subalterno frente al discurso económico-cultural dominante. Sin embargo, gracias a las luchas de diferentes colectivos y movimientos ciudadanos, la huerta ha representado uno de los más importantes espacios de resistencia democrática y defensa del patrimonio histórico y socioambiental de Valencia (Giobellina, 2014).

La iniciativa  también pretende contribuir a descentralizar la práctica artística reivindicando el entorno rural como locus de producción cultural y creatividad. Entre los principales objetivos de esta iniciativa destaca la intención de generar espacios de encuentro transdisciplinar que permitan poner en relación diferentes perspectivas sobre la crisis ecosocial integrando agricultores/as, investigadores/as, artistas, estudiantes, ciudadanos/as, etc. y que ofrezcan la posibilidad de compartir reflexiones, buenas prácticas y visiones de futuro.

El proyecto surge de la colaboración plurianual con diferentes agentes locales buscando así enraizar la práctica artística en el territorio y generar redes de cooperación a largo plazo. Esta iniciativa se basa en valores de cuidado de las relaciones humanas y del mundo más que humano, desde la conciencia de nuestra condición de interdependencia y ecodependencia (Herrero, 2018).

Las actividades propuestas (seminarios, talleres, recorridos experienciales, etc.) tienen un carácter transdisciplinar y  son abiertas y gratuitas, fomentando una visión más horizontal y democrática de la producción cultural.

Agroversitat is alaboratory of art, agroecology and critical pedagogies. The project seeks to activate collective and intergenerational learning processes related to issues such as land use, the defence of the territory and the eco-social crisis. It arises in the ecosystem of the Valencian huerta, with the intention of making visible and valuing its situated knowledge, historically marginalised in the face of urban and developmentalist culture.

This knowledge has recently been integrated into the Important Systems of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. However, especially from the second half of the 20th century onwards, these practices and knowledge have been have been relegated to a subordinate role in relation to the dominant economic-cultural discourse. Nevertheless, thanks to the struggles of different collectives and citizen movements, the huerta has represented one of the most important spaces of democratic resistance and defence of the historical and socio-environmental heritage of Valencia (Giobellina, 2014).

The initiative also aims to contribute to decentralise artistic practice by reclaiming the rural environment as a locus of cultural production and creativity. Among the main objectives of this initiative include the intention to generate spaces for transdisciplinary encounters that will allow different perspectives on the ecosocial crisis, integrating farmers, researchers, artists, students, citizens, etc. and offer the possibility to share reflections, good practices and visions for the future. 

The project arises from the multi-annual collaboration with different local agents, thus seeking to root artistic practice in the territory and generate long-term cooperation networks. This initiative is based on values of care for human relations and the more-than-human world, from the awareness of our condition of interdependence and eco-dependence.

The proposed activities (seminars, workshops, experiential walks, etc.) have a transdisciplinary character and are open and free of charge, fostering a more horizontal and democratic approach to cultural production.
